ABC’S OF COMPUTERS

In this introductory course the participants will learn the basic from how to turn on a computer through the parts of a computer with exposure to terms used today. The course also covers the basics of how to use Microsoft Windows which is the operating system of the computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, as well as an explanation of how information is organized on the computer. This is a hands on class and you will be using a computer in our computer lab.

WINDOWS 7 TRAINING ON YOUR LAPTOP

For people who have little experience with the Windows Operating environment. Learn to manipulate windows, use dialog boxes and menus, maneuver through multiple windows, create and move files and folders and type simple documents. You will need to bring your laptops with Microsoft 7 for the class. We will go over some of the differences between Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7. This class is for new computer users or for those going from Windows XP/Vista to Windows 7.

MOUSING AROUND

This is a fun and interesting hands on experience - find out how mousing around on computers can be a great tool to learn about technology. Basic computer experience is required for this class.

INTRODUCTION TO THE DIGITAL CAMERA

You have a digital camera, you have taken some pictures, but how do you get the pictures off the camera to the computer? Where do the pictures go once they are on your camera? Bring your camera, cords, and an external card reader if you have one and your camera’s memory card. You can even bring your laptop with you if you have one, so you can learn how to transfer the pictures on your own laptop. If you have a flash drive (thumb drive) you can bring that as well and learn to save your pictures. We will be making folders and transferring pictures from your camera to a computer. After this class you will be ready to learn to manipulate your digital photos.

HOW TO HAVE A COMPUTER THAT WORKS

You may not want to be an auto mechanic but you may want to drive a car! Many computer users feel they almost have to be a technician to own a computer. This course covers topics that will make your computer experience much more pleasant. We look at computer security, hard drive utilities and data backup. Participants will learn how to fix common computer problems. Hardware as well as software problems will be discussed and demonstrated to give participants an approach to diagnosing and solving common problems

What is the internet, how to get connected and the basics of surfing the World Wide Web will be introduced. Using search tools to find information from health to hobbies will be demonstrated.
